Further to my earlier post on using a shape as type of spotlight tool, you can play around with the background colour, size and shape of the spotlight revealer as in the video here.
You can also play around with sound files instead of words. Here is a an example of a secret message chopped up into bits. At the moment this seems to be a fiddly thing to do as I have had to use windows soundrecorder to record each sound and then convert each sound into mp3 format as this is what smartboard recognises. Audacity maybe easier to use as you can save files in mp3 format. If you need to convert from another soundfile format to mp3, the most useful free software I know to convert formats is Switch Audio file converter

The pupils have to find the soundfiles and then drag them into the 7 boxes placing them in order to make a sentence they can understand. The finished example should look like this. Download Agent-secret sound exercise solution
My next post in this series will be about how you can use the smartboard recorder to produce teaching materials that pupils can access from home. Working as I do in the primary sector as well where there is a need to produce low cost but high quality materials to support non-specialist teachers, the smartboard recorder can be used to produce such things as bigbook stories that anyone can use.
